VOICE OF ZAA NKWETA: In Gaza, Hamas leader and deposed Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said on Wednesday that an Egyptan-backed ceasefire plan could bring common stability to the region.
ISMAIL HANIYEH, HAMAS LEADER, GAZA (SUBTITLED TRANSLATION): Today there is an agreement under the Egyptian supervision. The ball is in the Israeli court right now. We hope that there is going to be a chance, that might bring calm and stability to the region.
NKWETA: Egypt has been leading attempts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel, Hamas, and smaller Palestinian groups. Meanwhile, an Israeli aircraft hit a metal workshop in southern Gaza on Wednesday, killing one person and wounding three. The Islamic jihad group identified the dead man as one of its local commanders.
