Story Transcript

EZE JACKSON: Hello, Real News Supporters. My name is Eze Jackson and I’m one of the newest members of the Real News Network staff in Baltimore.

I’m currently hosting a new show called The Whole Bushel. It’s an interview show where we talk to performing artists and get their perspective on world issues, current events and social justice matters that concern them the most — all while sitting down and eating crabs like we do here in Baltimore, Maryland.

The artists also perform in our studio. The performances are mixed into the show, to also give the world a taste of what Baltimore and the surrounding areas have to offer. It’s been an amazing experience working at The Real News Network.

As a hip hop artist and community organizer myself, I can honestly say it’s been a joy to work with some of the most talented people I’ve ever met. From our producers to our camera crew and studio team, I’m surrounded by people who genuinely want to give the viewers the realest, thought-provoking stories without the influence of corporate funding.

I work in an office every day with one of my heroes, former Black Panther Eddie Conway, who also hosts a show called Rattling the Bars, which takes you into the prison system for a deeper look at the injustices that have affected so many Americans, including Eddie himself.

There’s a great deal of excitement about the work we’re doing to expand coverage in Baltimore, as well as internationally. And, in order to keep it going, we need your help. We can’t do this without your genuine support. A generous donor has agreed to match every donation that comes in by the end of the year. That means during this period every dollar you donate will be doubled.

So, please dig deep and make a tax-deductible contribution today. We need your help to make Real News. Thank you.
