VOICEOVER: The Olympic Torch’s run through London was repeatedly marred by clashes between police and pro-Tibet protesters. Torchbearers were surrounded by a contingent of police as they cover the 31-mile route through through Britain’s capital. Police say the made dozens of arrests. One protester even tried to grab the torch. Police stopped the run while they detained the man. As Prime Minister Gordon Brown met torchbearers, demonstrators were just yards away, battling police at Parliament. The torch is on an 85,000-mile journey from Athens to Beijing ahead of the 2008 Summer Games. Activists protesting China’s human rights record have repeatedly tried to disrupt the flame’s journey. Several British torchbearers dropped out of the relay over the human rights record. The torch is expected to face more demonstrators as it goes to Paris, San Francisco and New Delhi.
